TEACH-LNGB

TEACH is a 12-year UKAID project being implemented under Girls Education Challenge (GEC) in 2 phases (2012-2018 in 14 countries and 2019-2024 in 17 countries including Pakistan) by Foreign Commonwealth Development Office through consortium partners IRC, BEF, TKF and DIL.

The project is implemented in 5 bordering districts of Balochistan including Chagai, Kharan, Noshki, Pishin and Killa Abdullah (including Chaman which used to be one of the tehsils of K. A). The purpose of TEACH project is to mainstream 10-14-year-old out of schoolgirls (OOSG) in formal education by educating 12000 girls till primary level at Accelerated Learning Program Centers (ALP centers) and have them accredited/certified by Balochistan Education Assessment Commission (BEAC) for their smooth transition in formal education, while the rest of 11000 girls are being engaged in learning activities through well designed radio lessons, broadcast twice a day. The project has successfully achieved its targets by enrolling over 23164 girls (12164 in Home Based Centers (HBCs) and 11000 in radio only program).

The facilitators can’t teach unless they go through extensive trainings of respective packages A, B & C. These packages cover Kachi – G 5. All the clients have been provided with reading learning material along with dignity and recreational kits. The centers are regularly monitored and the students are assessed on monthly basis by the project staff.
